What is Plasma?
Plasma is the fourth state of matter: solid, liquid, gas and plasma. The principle is to ionize gases in the air to create a small electric arc, similar to a tiny lightning bolt, with which the affected area may be treated without damage to surrounding areas. It is gas that has been energized to the point that some of the electrons are stripped from their respective atoms creating free electrons and positive ions.
How does Plasma Skin Tightening work?
Plasma skin tightening is also known as “Soft Surgery” as it delivers results similar to surgery. However, there is no scalpel, stitches or bandages and downtime is limited. The treatment is minimally invasive at an affordable price.
Young elastic skin depends on the number of structural proteins such as collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin help your skin resist temporary changes such as stretching, folding or wrinkling. As we get older our bodies produce less structural proteins and our skin starts to show signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles.
Skin tightening is induced when a mild, superficial, controlled burn is done using an AC voltaic arc, DC voltaic arc or certain lasers. This in turn restores more elasticity to the skin as localized excitation stimulates the skin’s regeneration process resulting in firm and tighter skin. The wrinkles will appear reduced and skin much tighter. Plasma skin tightening is a preferred method for skin tightening and rejuvenation, compared to AHA based chemical peels, as it is generally more selective as per area required. A client’s needs are met with a higher degree of precision. This treatment is referred to as “localized skin tightening”.
Lasers and electrical arcing devices use the basic principle which is targeted delivery of heat into the skin. The skin responds by generating new collagen, resulting in tighter and firmer skin.
Fibroblasts are the collagen producing cells in the skin. Fibroblast stimulation is done by using an extremely accurate hand held device that works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its tip and the natural gases emitted from our skin to form a plasma charge. A small electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissues retract and tighten whilst Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and Fibronectin are revived for youthful looking skin.
How many treatments are required?
The Number of treatments depend on several factors:
The area being treated
Desired degree of correction
Individuals response to the treatment
Treatments can be repeated every 8 - 12 weeks, but usually a maximum of 2 treatments are required.
